An Oozing Day at Avilon Zoo

Another long weekend had passed and I can't let it just happen without having some fun again as the way we had in Enchanted Kingdom last time.

This time, we went to Avilon Zoo in Montalban, Rizal. It's almost 1.5 hours away from Manila, that includes the slight traffic and minutes of searching the way to the place. Hehe.

It's quarter to 1:00 PM when we arrived there. Entrance fee is P200. Tourist guides are assigned to each group of visitors. Since they are somehat new, something's wrong pa with their system. You can take a tour of the zoo without paying at all! They are not checking if you have paid your fee or not.

Anyways, I was wondering why the family of birds outnumber other animals. I almost forgot it's Avilon pala! Hehe. And 75% of the animal population is composed of birds. So if you are a bird lover, this is the perfect zoo for you. Hehe.

It took us 2 hours to visit every corner of the zoo. It was quite exhausting though it's worth it. We really had fun!

Oh, and before I forget, I had my most terrible experience with snake at the zoo! Eversince I really really really hate reptiles, especially the SNAKE! And my officemates are so damned kulet that they held me too tight and gave me to the tourist guide who was then holding the SAWA! And how I wish I have turned into a large trophy or life-size stone carving while the snake is creeping at my nape! It's so hard to face your greatest fear pala! But that was a 'moment' for me. Hehe.

We went home closely before 6 PM and had dinner at my officemate's house in Pasig.

HIGLIGHTS

As the place is Avilon, expect the best of the birds. Most of the male birds are said to be sexually dichromatic; with more colorful feathers, more attractive and beautiful than female birds. KALAW is one example.

They also have the night owl (not sure) or some call it PAGASPAS from the Mulawin TV series.

Outside birds family, they have CAPYBARA, the largest on the rat family as they grow as big as a pig. They also have the ESTUARIAN CROCS, the largest crocodile. One of their highlights is the MALAYAN TAPIR, who is said to be like half horse and rhino, with a trunk shorter than an elephant. Its body is half white and half black. We were not able to take a clear picture of the tapir as it was staying most of the time on his bed. I just knew there that the OSTRICH produces a sound more like a drum beat.

We took like more than a hundred pictures, but I can only show few here. Now I'm looking forward to see the Safari in Subic as it's more engrossing daw than Avilon Zoo.
